I am not a good cook and I am very time poor and, well,  just plain too tired most of the time. Ariel and I eat a plant based diet and I am allergic to soy, so when the opportunity came up to blog a recipe for The Alternative Chefs Kitchen, I was super keen. I need some inspiration.

Alternative Chef Kitchen is a TV cooking show that cooks without gluten, dairy, wheat and meat. This show is for all the families that have allergies in them, live a free from food life, are on a strict diet and all the vegans, and vegetarians too! Most recipes are also paleo friendly and there is even a specialist vegan raw chef!

The show’s format features a panel of chefs, who are all also naturopaths and they each have their own unique cooking styles and do a different take on a recipe classic, such as the lasagne episode or the cheesecake episode.

I was sent a Tasty Alternatives Recipe book and I chose this super easy recipe to make

Anne’s 150g Oaty Muesli Bar Slice

150g Nuttelex

150g plain flour

150g rolled oats

150g almond meal

150g fruit and seeds 9eg cranberry and chia)

150g sweetener (I used rice malt syrup)

1 tsp baking powder

To a large bowl add Nuttelex, flour, rolled oats, ground nuts, fruit and seeds, syrup and 1 tsp baking powder and combine.

Transfer the mix to a greased baking dish and flatten the mix into the dish with your hands.

Transfer the baking dish to a pre heated oven at 170 degrees C (160 if fan forced) for 20-30 mins

Once golden remove from oven and allow them to cool completely before cutting into slices.

These were so easy and are so yummy. I will make them with apricot and coconut next time I think. Check out the video tour below for more delicious treats that are dairy free, egg free, gluten free and soy free. If you are vegan, or follow a plant based diet like us, you will love it!
