30 Nov November Musings.
Estimated reading time including watching a video. 4 minutes
Time is flying and things are always changing and we are all growing – Ariel, like all babies do, and Joe and I as people. I never expected to be attending weekly mothers group meetings with my child who has a disability. I never thought I would be involved in going to events for people who have disabilities. I have never been exposed to this before and never even thought about it to be truthful. My life is very different than before. It is actually better to many ways and I am a lot stronger than I thought. I am doing more with my time and what I am doing has meaning. I am actually helping others and I feel inspired. November has been busy with work also but here are some of the things we have been up to…
Reading: Gifts Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives. A beautiful book full of 63 personal stories from mothers of children with Down Syndrome. I will review when I finish.
Milestones: Ariel is now sitting and almost crawling… she knows “milk” and “drink”. She says dada, doodoo, deedee and muma, she plays patty cake and she can stand supported
Eating: Superfoods. We love our green smoothies made with hemp protein and chia seed puddings made with coconut cream. I am pretty sure her diet is part of the reason she is so strong and healthy. I am a big believer in a healthy eating plan and will blog about this later.
Loving: Making Ariel laugh. She is so excitable and happy and we are loving it!
Hating: Controlled crying. And for those who say “It’s really hard and some people cant do it” I say “why would you want to?” IF Ariel really doesn’t want to take a nap we are not going to make her “cry it out” for 2 hours. We hate that style of routine and prefer to do it another way. Like “whatever works” lol But in all honesty Ariel sleeps all through the night so if she misses a few day sleeps through the week we certainly are not going to stress about it!
Here is some footage of Ariel going from her tummy to sitting all by herself. So proud of her and my love for her is HUGE!!! December here we come… x
